Cascade Bridge Selects 228 HSL for Overpass

Crane at work

Cascade Bridge LLC of Vancouver, Washington drives piling with a Link-Belt 130-ton (117.9-mt) 228 HSL lattice crawler crane for a new $25.8 million crossing over existing Union Pacific and BNSF railroad tracks. The final bridge structure will be an 830 ft. (252.9 m) long, five span steel plate girder bridge with two travel lanes.

“We chose the 228 HSL because of its increased capacity over the 218 HSL without sacrificing any increased physical footprint,” said Dan Mingo, Field Engineer for Cascade Bridge.

The North Rivergate Boulevard Crossing will improve flow for freight traffic traveling to and from the Port of Portland, which serves 11 states in the Pacific Northwest and upper Midwest, and is the second largest export gateway on the West Coast of the United States.
